Highlights: Lima, Cusco, Andes Mountains, Cusco, Pisac Ruins and Market, Ollantaytambo Fortress, Lost City of the Incas Machu Picchu, Ausangate mountain, remote mountain scenery, high mountain passes, quiet trails , fewer tourists, local villages.
Explore Peru’s mix of colonial and Inca architecture
This itinerary offers a variety of trekking conditions from the open grasslands of the Puna to slopes of rocks and boulders. However, most of the foot is on fairly well defined slopes. In general, the trekking is easy and not very sustained. A remote location and 3 high passes have influenced our pick for the demanding rating. During our stay in this charming country, we spent time in colorful Cusco, visiting the Sacred Valley of the Incas and doing the classic train trip to Machu Picchu.
