Tour Details

Highlight: Archaeological Site of Huchuy Qosqo, amazing mountain scenery, quieter trails, local people, Sacred Valley / Urubamba, Machu Picchu lost city of the Incas
Amazing short trek to Huchuy Qosqo “little Cusco”
This is a very good hike for hikers who love to hike and be in the middle of nowhere (just being surrounded by nature), like to go camping with a group and have fun with others. The Tambomachay head of the east track is a site where few tourists arrive within 30 minutes of Cusco, searching for a small hill consisting of rocks and caves in the form of passages. Huchuy Qosqo (small Cusco) is located above the Urubamba Valley and offers very spectacular views over the Vilcanota Mountain range that ends in Machu Picchu Sanctuary

Itinerary

Day 1 Huchuy Qosqo Trek - Ollantaytambo

Pick up from your hotel at 7:00 am for a private walk to Huchuy Qosqo; We leave Cusco in a private transport that takes us to Chinchero and then continue to Tauca, a small Andean community that is the starting point of our trek. We start an uphill excursion in the middle of a beautiful mountain landscape with the presence of llamas, alpacas and beautiful views of the Piuray lagoon until we reach the only mountain pass of this program at 4500m / 14760ft (2h). Then we start descending along a restored Inca trail for an approximate 1h towards the small Andean community of Pukamarca (4010m / 13153ft). From there, we walk downhill towards the León Punku ravine, where we find remains of an Inca bridge and track. This canyon has geological formations surrounded by majestic rocks and boulders that lead the river to Huchuy Qosqo at 3600m / 11808ft, where we arrive in the afternoon. Huchuy Qosqo is an Inca archaeological complex with imposing architecture that includes a large open ceremonial center, from which we enjoy a panoramic view of the Sacred Valley, the Vilcanota River, and the snowy mountain range of the same name. While at the complex, we received a guided tour, after which we continued on our way to Lamay at 3000m / 9840ft. Transfer from Lamay to Ollantaytambo where you will spend the night in a hotel – Accommodation at the Ollantaytambo hotel
Estimated walking time: 7-8 hours
• Meals included: Box-Lunch
